Aussie Rockers Powderfinger Announce Split - Final Ever UK Tour Dates

Australia's biggest band, Powderfinger, have announced that they will be no more following touring commitments this year, which includes their final UK & Ireland tour.

The Aussie rockers are set to hit the UK & Ireland next week for a 7 date tour.

Last Friday, media were welcomed to The Annandale Hotel in Sydney, where Powderfinger sat on the same stage they first performed on almost twenty years ago. Bernard Fanning read a statement on behalf of his fellow band members - Jon Coghill, John Collins, Ian Haug and Darren Middleton.

Capital FM's Summertime Ball 2010 To Be Held At Wembley Stadium

Capital FM's Summertime Ball is set to return in 2010 with a stellar lineup to be announced over the coming weeks.

The one-day pop-a-thon party of the summer will take place at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday June 6th. Although the lineup is yet to be revealed, rumours are abound that Monster-Ball superstar Lady Gaga will top the bill with teenage Internet sensation Justin Bieber making his first UK performance to 55,000 screaming pop fans! Also rumoured to be on the 2010 bill are JLS, Rihanna, Pixie Lott and Black Eyed Peas.

Richard Ashcroft's United Nations of Sound Announce UK & European Tour Dates and Tickets

Richard Ashcroft’s new band United Nations of Sound have confirmed their first ever live dates.

The former Verve frontman will kick off the European tour in Ancona, Italy on June 5th, followed by dates in France, Germany, and Holland, before climaxing with two UK shows in Manchester and London on June 15th and 16th.

Record Store Day 2010: A Farewell to a Dying Trade?

Next Saturday, the 17th of April, marks this year’s Record Store Day, an international celebration of independently-owned record shops. This annual event first took place two years ago in the US to promote the recognition of a diminishing trade and to strengthen the belief that such shops still have an important place in modern popular culture. The date has since spread to many other countries worldwide, including the UK, and has proved that people still seem to have a great fondness for small music retailers.

Noel Shows Rock'n'Roll Star Status at Royal Albert Hall

Strolling on stage in his signature casual jeans and shirt, Noel Gallagher coolly poised himself on his stool, offered the audience a quick nod and hello before strumming into opening track It’s Good to Be Free. This man didn’t muck about, and rightly so. His charged audience were ready to soak up a setlist packed with classic B sides and fan favourites, the simple beauty of which was only too clearly emphasised by an acoustic delivery. There were no surprises, no showcased new tunes...just Noel and his masterpieces.

Babyshambles No More? Pete Doherty Being Sued by Sacked Bandmates

Confusion reigns this morning on the future of Pete Doherty's current band Babyshambles.

Newspapers today are reporting that Doherty had fired Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek and bassist Drew McConnell last week, while Doherty is now facing legal action from the pair.

New York Dolls To Dedicate "Jet Boy" To Malcolm McClaren

Punk-legends the New York Dolls have paid tribute to the late-great punk pioneer Malcolm McLaren. The former Sex-Pistols manager suddenly passed away yesterday (April 8th) after his long fight with cancer.

The legendary rock band from New York City, say that they will dedicate their classic song “Jet Boy” to McLaren when they play their only UK concert of 2010 in London later this month.
